Yes Mike ! Exploring new roads and trails and just enjoying THE moment ... each moment ... for what it is . It doesn't really matter how far or fast you go .... it's the opening to "all that is" in a given moment. .. and when you "stop and smell the roses" of any given momet .... dang ..... you realize the smell of life no matter where you are or how you got there .. is sweet !
Yes ... even "racing" is a type of "smelling the roses" of those particular kind of moments ... they just are *different* kind of moments ... no better, no worse . We exist to choose ... and infinite choices are ours . That we have such variations in choices is absolutely astounding ! I ride in Birkenstock 2 strap sandals for example with BMX type pedals, wit ha mid-food position on them. I used to be all concerned about "q factor" and a "narrow" stance ... and I wanted to BE *free* of any such thoughts of limitation. So I purposefully moved my feet out about 12-15mm on the pedals ... to a wider stance to see how it would feel. The left side felt great right off .. the right not so. But I kept riding with the left foot wider anyways. I took a break a while later, and when I resumed riding my right foot just naturally went wide without my really thinking too much. It felt awesome ! I rode the last 15 miles that way , laughing all the way home at my "perceived" need and limitation of perfectly and narrowly placed feet ! Ahahahaa !!! So "new/different " ways of doing things is really simply challenging our belief system of "what is true for me" ... and it sure is FUN to change them !!
