622 - 584 / 2 (the difference in reach required) is probably beyond the range of "minimal adjustment" but if you are asking can this be done with a brake swap, sure. > I have less than 3mm clearance all around the 700x28's I have on it > now (picture). If you did you'd have lower gears throughout the range, due to the smaller wheel size. > If I put a different 7-speed freewheel, how much derailleur tuning > would be required? Could I put on an 8-speed freewheel and still use > the Campy derailleur? Lots of tuning at that point? The issue is going to be the capacity of the rear derailleur. I have no idea what the maximum sprocket size that rear derailleur will fit. However, if by "tuning" you mean adjusting the high and low range stop screws, they should not require adjustment because all the Shimano Hyperglide 7 speed freewheels should have the same width and same spacing between sprockets. 8 speed is wider, and (at least, according to Sheldon) although 8 speed freewheels were marketed for a little while, they had problems and have pretty much disappeared from the marketplace. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
