Well done all the way around!
Dr. S would approve.

Yes. Rivendells are too versatile. Way too versatile. Way, way too versatile. I can push mine up a hill. I can coast mine down a hill. I can peddle dry, wet or white. Would you could you ride at night? In the mountains, on the plains, canyons, valleys, mesas too. Why, I could even ride mine to the zoo! So many choices! Too many choices! What's a poor wee lad to do? What? What's that you say? "RIDE IT OUT!" Ok. Ok. You don't have to shout. Would I could I in the rain? Would I could I if I were(n't) insane?...

I've had my Hilsen now almost 5yrs. It's been a great bike and quite versatile. I've used it for sporty quick rides, randonneuring, touring, camping and just rambling around. I've ridden it with and without racks, fenders, kickstand and with a double and triple crank, SPDs and flat pedals.Given it's ability to accommodate a big range of tire sizes and racks, some simple changes can make it into a completely different bike.http://www.flickr.com/photos/41335973@N00/sets/72157613195465589/One thing that has remained static is the bars. Since I first had it I've always run 46cm Nitto Noodles. Lately I've been thinking of either switching to 48cm Noodles like I have on my LHT and love, along with going to a wider tire (700x38 Marathons). But then why go to that trouble given I already have my LHT. Seems redundant.I've also considered swapping out to Albatross bars, especially after seeing pictures of Grant's Hilsen and Manny's friend Mike's Hilsen:And this one too:There was a time when I never would have entertained putting a bar like this on the Hilsen. But given my mileage is coming down significantly this year, I've been entertaining the idea. It's almost as if the Hilsen (really all RBW models) is just too darn versatile. What's your experience?--mike
