For example, from about 1998-2006, Centaur ergo shifters was closer to Record Chorus, except that Rec/Chorus used "BB" in the levers, while Centaur used a bushing. You couldn't feel any difference.. Same with the hubs, especially the rear, where the innards of the Centaur was exactly the same as Rec/Chorus. One big difference was the bb, where Record/Chorus shared similar bb, with Record getting some ti bits, Centaur sealed bb was shared with Veloce. In about 2007, Campy decided to make Centaur parts - ergo shifters, bb, rear hub - more like Veloce and Mirage and less like Record/Chorus. Too bad, as Centaur use to be the best value in Campy's line up. Good Luck!
