Point of Order: There are 2339 members as of today, 4/28/13 Separate from the accounting, I like to think of this list as a focused resource. Now that the archiving bugaboos have been largely sorted out by google, the information which you can access from previous list posts and discussions is pretty significant. I do think that for all the basic questions which pop up (and just to be clear, basic questions are great!) there is some noticeable search activity which goes on as well.
I don't think we are at all unique in that we have a smaller number of actively posting members. Where I like to think we differ is in the quality of the discussion. We don't need to argue that this year's drivetrain system is better than last year's, nor do we need to vouch for why the newest wrinkle is now and forever the latest/greatest. It can be a bit disconcerting to dive into a discussion which has been going on a while. (I mean, there are folks on this list I've been crossing paths with online for nearly two decades.) The common experience in an internet discussion is to raise a hand only to get it slapped back down. We're an exception to that. There are a whole host of reasons why folks join lists. Private notes now and again indicate that a good number of people greatly appreciate the quality of information and discussion here. Bicycles are simple tools. At least the ones which we seem to be collectively drawn to. Done right, they simple in the sense of violins or guitars - capable of realizing works of great complexity and beauty. And as they say, if you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own... ;^) Jim / list admin / cyclofiend.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
