Waterproof schmaterproof. The big story to me anyway is Brooks is coming
out with a vegan hammock saddle.

When I stopped eating meat years ago, I also gave up on leather products.
Except for saddles. I tried a large number of the injection molded
saddles out there. They were all portable torture chambers to me. Finally
wound up going back to leather with Berthoud.

I've read about some noble failures to make lorica hammock saddles. Brooks
is doing some interesting things with modern fabric and materials. the
Land's End / John O'Groats packs I recently picked up appear to be very
nice. They are well designed, light, and supposedly quite water proof.
Ortlieb makes them, so I am not too worried about trying them out before
going on my next tour.

Really hope these saddles turn out to be the real deal. Looking forward to
buying my first Cambium from Rivendell.
