You know, the findings in that study are interesting (though I concede I've not read the actual study yet). Living in the state with the oldest population, I treat a lot of older cyclists. Many of the men have a variety of hip and/or balance issues which make mounting/dismounting their bikes difficult and a touch risky. I've suggested a step-through frame to several of them and am consistently met with "I am not going to ride a girl's bike!" Ah well. . . I can say that, after having ridden my wife's Betty, I want one just 'cause they're delightful bikes.
