To which I reply: One thing to keep in mind is that vintage (anything pre-1998) Cinelli bars are very slightly larger (26.4mm) than most "high end" stems, which are 26.0mm. One can sort of fit the bars into the stem, but when the clamp bolt is tightened it deforms the bars and slightly ovalizes them. That makes all sorts of stress risers that will ultimately lead to a catastrophic snap.
