Dude, just do the series. If you did a 300k and feel good then you'll be able to do a full series. the 400k is can get a little rough towards the end because it can be an exceptionally long ride. Should you have an unpleasant 400k don't let that discourage you from doing a 600k. The 600k, especially if it's a good course, is just a really nice long weekend on the bike. I've done 5 600k and slept for anywhere from 1.5 to 5hrs at the overnight control. Just do it. The worst that happens is you DNF or suffer through a long weekend on the bike and decide, based on experience, that the longer events aren't for you.
