Agree. The bikes at nahmbs are "show bikes," they're suppose to be
outrageous. Last year in Sacramento, a friend and I were looking at
Shamrock's "urban" bike. It drew all the oohs and ahhs, yet we couldn't see
anybody really using it, at least on a practical basis. The racks had
in-laid with 3 or 4 types of fancy polished wood panels. Nice, but you
really couldn't use it without scratching the wood and basically ruining
it. The paint is beautiful, but you will cry when it gets scratched. Also,
it looked heavy. We couldn't touch it, but hopefully it had some low
gearing or the purchase lives in the flatlands. Here's a link:

Nahmbs is always a good time for bike porn and those of us addicted to
bikes. Its like going to a car show and oogling at the Ferraris,
Lamborginis and other fancy dancy cars. So, if Rob English builds a fancy
TT bike and it wins, then I say that's great. I'll never ride one,
especially with his set up - seat is 7 inches higher than bars - but it is
interesting. Good Luck!
