I'd seen the sugino one, of course - but I was never clear if I liked it or not.
I took your advice and dremeled down an older big ring. That took some effort and it looks 'pretty good' but not great. I may try again. a friend of mine has a bunch of old 110bcd large rings that are all shark-toothed out. :) Here's how the hilsen looks without the bashguard: http://www.flickr.com/photos/skvidal/8525822942/ I think the chain guard looks pretty good and it sure feels good.
