I disagree with the person who said that maintenance of hydraulic brakes is expensive and/or difficult. I have three bikes that have Avid hydraulic disc brakes, from the cheapest to upper-midrange models. In several years of all-conditions riding and intermittent storage, I've not had to bleed any of them. They are the closest thing to a no-maintenance brake that I've ever used.
