I am in the process of rebuilding a RD2 crankset and discovered, actually remembered, that it needs a shim between the middle ring and spider to prevent chain suck when shifting to the inside ring. I have had three of these cranks over the years and all three had this problem. Is this my bad luck, or is this a widespread experience?
