quite simply, there ain't nothing past lockup. I've been on my Weinmann center pulls for 38 years in the TX hills, and my Rigida rims against them for 35. While I have a spare wheelset, I don't have to - the original rims are in great shape. With kool stop pads, I can lock them up, but it takes a decided effort. My daughter has Tektro V-brakes and she locks them up all the time. So if you like leaving black marks on the pavement...
There is a lot of grass on the internet about flutter in long-reach Tektro sidepulls. I like having the option of the centerpulls.
