Scot, Sorry I'm late with this, but I'm always running a couple weeks behind reading the forum. I bought the last of Renaissance Bicycles' Sam Hillbornes, a 56cm double TT, in late Dec. 2010. I was able to fit a Nitto Big Rack without P-clamps using the middle hole at the bottom of the rack and a 6mm washer/spacer at each of the 4 contact points. (I don't recall if I got them from Rivendell or Loose Screws.) I also used longer-than-usual bolts at these points. I positioned the front lower rack stay connections inside the rack at the bottom rack hole. Maybe I just lucked out with my 56cm sized frame, since I'm maxed out at the lower part of the top slotted brace. (See photos) I took some photos and posted them to my Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bikecrazy-paul/sets/72157632804323827/ Paul in wintery Midlothian, VA, but headed to SoCal soon for some overnighters with bro-in-law, Ian! I finally got a lovely Nitto R34 yesterday. I noticed the placement of the top attachment point is a little weird when mounting to the Sam's fork; it doesn't really come close to the eyelets so I have to use the p-clamps instead. However, I've seen photos from Renaissance Bicycles on Flickr that show a Sam with the same rack perfectly fitted to the eyelets. I guess it's a minor point, but the Nitto stuff usually seems so perfectly suited to the Riv stuff and this seems just a little sloppy. Did Riv move the placement of the mid-fork attachment? Is this is sidepull vs canti difference or maybe 650b vs 700 difference? BTW: the Bombadil on the Riv install video (http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/r5.htm) has mid-fork brazeons, but Mark's installing the rack with p-clamps. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
