My 12 year old son rides a Bontrager MTB. He has no clue how 'cool' it really is.
Just make sure he understands how UNcool it really is if it gets stolen or trashed... (My son frequently rode to his buddy's house on my Salsa Ala Carte... I had to have 'the talk' with him first...)
