The "classic" S24O is a stealthy, technically illegal, but not immoral or
unethical sleepout in the hills, and works easiest when everybody is tiny,
fast, wears black hoodies, and can pedal over rice paper without ripping
it. This ideal is never achieved, but the image of it is good to keep in
mind as the group gets bigger. There have been cutbacks in rangership due to
budget cuts, and that plays well for us illegals for sure, but there's no
guarantee. Pick a route (Tony? Manny?) and it'll be neat! There are
reservable legal campsites.

For a smooth takeoff, it'll be good for all who go to be camping gear
independent (I posted my recommended gear checklist a few days ago, but of
course it's totally personal. It's super handy to know how to set up the
tent you're sleeping in, and to have stakes for it. Spikey stakes will work
better than the big yellow ones, unless have something to pount them in
with. Liesl, tell me what you'll need to borrow, and tentwise---you'll get
all the help you need (way too much trouble to haul all the gear needed for
an S24O).

Anne, there is CalTrain to SF, then BART. I've taken CalTrain only once and
don't know any more about it than that it goes between the SoBay and
SF...but I hope you get a ride!
