Patrick, I'm so sorry about that! Mine are snug, but I've not been uncomfortable with it. I think the Iris design acts like a spring and holds it. I could be wrong, and perhaps Jim is right that the welds could eventually fail, but I got mine in 2010 and bottles and Iris cages are still going strong....
