For the bulk of the ride, that is, from when you get on Mt. Hamilton Road to start climbing (the end of the first day) until you get to Livermore, there are two places to buy food: the top of Mt. Hamilton, where there *may* be vending machines that *may* be open, and the Junction, where there is a cafe which might be open, which you'd probably get to around midday the second day. Before then, you climb up to Mount Hamilton to Grant Ranch (I think that's about 1000 feet of climb, maybe a bit less) and camp the first night. Then, the second day, you complete the climb of Mt Hamilton (another 3000+ feet, but it's not steep), go down the other side, and ride through the lovely San Antonio Valley.
Grant Ranch Park, the top of Mt. Hamilton and (I think) the Junction Cafe have water. Bottom line, a long way without services. Be prepared. It's beautiful but remote.
