A week in jury duty didn't speed things up (have another week to go, too,
and may have picked up the flu as well) but status to date is:

1. I'm waiting for sprints. But the Ram will take 35 mm Kojaks with room to
spare -- even for fenders if they are flat and carefully installed. The
Rhyno Lite/SRAM/Dynohub Kojak wheelset from the Fargo fits fine into the
dropouts -- too bad it's disk. Whatthehell, I may just steal it from the
Fargo and remove the calipers for a second, heavy duty set for the Ram --
can always set the SRAM hub up as a, say, 15-16-17-18-19-21-23 7 speed to
match the 13-21 7 fw for the sprints:

  RAM KOJAKS 44 30 15 81 16 76 52 17 *71* 49 18 *67* 46 19 *64* 43 21
58 39 23 53 36
.
2. From very generous listmember Tom Allingham I received some very nice
gratis parts including a wonderful Nitto "Frog" seatpost and that Simplex
lever fd. Thanks very much! I think I will after all pass on the lever fd
because it needs a clamp and because it just doesn't look right for the Ram
frame. I'm ISO of an old, road fd with skinny cage and flat plates --
anyone? Can trade.
3. I have a Phil bb from another listmember at a good price and my
long-time stockist, RSWatson of this list, will trade me the cups for a
superfluous TA 26 t ring.
4. Tom also sent a very nice pair of Veloce calipers, but these may be a
wee bit too short -- whence my request for a rear single pivot 600 to match
the front in my parts box; a couple in the works.
5. It turns out that my stash of TA Pro 5 Vis rings very happily includes
several 44s and a 30 donated a year or two ago by a very nice CL listmember
for the trike; I sold the trike before I could install it, and it will
perfectly complement the 44 with a close ratio 7.
6. Must go over the nail polish touch up with emery cloth and try a
smoother final coat. Garage is sub 40*F thanks to unusually cold weather
here: current high 24F with snow; yesterday, 7:30 am, as low as 2*F on the
way from home to Mom's to pick her up for church: range from 2 to 4 (high
in upper 20s).

Questions:

1. What width of tire does the Ram handle best with? Put it another way:
what is the skinniest tire any of you have used on a Ram that handled well?
Or: how can I expect the Ram to handle with a 23 mm and with a 35 mm?
