A couple of people mentioned the Trace. If you get to it, check out the"Cycler's Rest" <http://simplecycle-marc.blogspot.com/2012/06/cyclers-rest.html> east of Franklin, Tn. I stayed there with some friends last year and it is a charming rental cottage a couple of miles off the Trace, tucked away in the woods.
