I had the same issue when trying to choose custom colors. First one was on
the Bombadil, and after choosing an almost black dark green found that the
painter either chose another dark green color due to him not having the
Imron one I had chosen, or that the color I chose looked completetely
different when painted on the frame vs. what I had imagined it would look
like. Could never tell, but learned a valuable lesson: Colors look
different in charts than they do on real objects!

I was dissapointed with the Bombadil's color, but luckily, the current
owner just loved it.

When I needed to repaint the Atlantis, after much debate and going back and
forth, as well as countless photo reviews on Flickr, I decided that Grant's
original color choice was the best option for it. I asked the painter
(Riv's local painter) to repaint it with the original Atlantis colors and
just added a panel on the downtube with a different decal to differentiate
it from the stock configuration and make it unique and personal. The color
came out very lovely, but when compared side by side with the original
fork, it's different. I was already warned to expect that, but does it mean
that there isn't a single official color, that the different painters use
different brands with colors that are supposed to be equivalent or that the
quality control at Imron sucks? Or, perhaps, that the effects of time and
sun on the paint will change it?

Now I have to send the Hunqapillar for a repaint since it's got its new
fork, the one thing I know is that I don't like the original gray color.
Funnily enough, when the painter gave the new fork a quick coat of gray
paint so I could start riding it right away, the gray coat he gave matches
the original color from Japan perfectly...

Still, I had originally thought to have it repainted in silver, after
seeing some great photos of a silver Atlantis. He suggested going to pewter
instead, and after finding photos of another pewter Atlantis (I believe)
online, I started going back and forth and am still undecided...

Isn't it funny how a simple choice can be so difficult to make?
