My Atlantis currently has cogs from a 7 speed cassette, 13-28, with a 9
speed 34t big cog, all spaced with 8 speed spacers, shifted with Ultegra 8
speed indexed bar ends. The whole thing works perfectly, even the
indexing, so there's quite a bit of tolerance in this stuff. I've
mixed'n'matched 7 & 8 speed cogs forever with no ill effects.
