Mine got surface rust, but it lived for a summer within 20 feet of the salt 
water on the Jersey Shore.  As long as you don't mind a little surface rust, 
you should be fine.

I might be interested in the small one. Can anyone educate me on the 
clear-coated "rusty tubes" thing? I would be purchasing intending to use it on 
trails as designed, and I like the idea of leaving it as is so I don't go into 
"scratching the paint" paralysis while throwing it around.

I live in the N. CA. Bay Area so I'm obviously not in a dry area, but I 
wouldn't be riding on the beach, either. Anyone have experience with what 
happens to these frames over time? I don't care about surface rust, as that is 
kinda the look of the thing. As long as those rather stout tubes are inclined 
to remain intact for another decade or so, that's enough for me.
