Tom Ritchey was such a key figure in the start of mountain biking and 
a remarkable athlete. I didn't realize ( until I looked it up) that he is 
the same age as me. To have been building frames so early and so well is a 
true gift.  
I still remember the '89  Worlds that Don Myrah won. I had just finished 
racing in the amateur race on the same course earlier in the day and was 
there to suck it all in. Although  at 10,000 ft you don't suck much air. 
Those were the good old days, rigid steel bikes and none of the 
panzy suspension stuff.
