Hi local friends,

Now that I have been called a Rivenista (thanks tim!), I feel compelled to
provide some insider fashionista tips from the state fair again this year.
Like last year, the best socks are still available--mohair socks--from
Heim-Made. My own testimonial written on the side of a display crate is
featured on their facebook page; they're located under the Grandstand
toward the front.

But the biggest find was that Gretchen, proprietor of Heim-Made, is making
an 8-panel bike cap, and she made about 4 out of an old army surplus olive
drab blanket. Erin and I each came home with one and I think there are two
left as of yesterday afternoon, both fairly large (enough bigger than 7 3/8
to not consider for the biggest noggin in our family). There were other
fabrics too. Gretchen took a picture of Erin and I wearing them, but as of
this writing it's not posted yet. Do not be deterred by the felt "flapper"
hats in the facebook photos; these bike caps are about as dapper as they
came--"pretty damn dapper" pipes up Erin. Locals, take a look.
