I believe that the great pleasure of cycling is "efficient motion", with the perfect and intimate unity of rider and machine. This involves (on the part of the rider) a certain fitness, a certain habituation to the physical activity (Aristotle's "habitus"), and, for the machine, a design that encourages both comfort and efficient effort on the part of the rider -- qualities that, for me, my several Rivendells have exhibited in spades.
This being so, then it is a delight to see a true rider of "genius" like Beryl -- watch the flat-back, solo time trial scenes in the video. Efficient motion!
