I love my Legolas! It has a subtly more snappy ride than my 2001 Road custom. I love the tire clearances, I love the whimsical lugs, I love the mixed surface rides that it encourages. I have put SKS longboard fenders on it this year that I may pull off so I can fit larger cross tires, such as the Conti Cyclocross Speed tires I recently bought from Rivendell. On the road I have found it climbs as well or better than the Riv Road, but with higher trail it doesn't descend as well. Descending in the dirt though, it feels plenty fast so it seems like a good compromise. I have mine set up with the 12-36 9 speed cassette and 36/50 up front so it has low low gears and is fun on steep mountain dirt roads and less technical single track. The Legolas is a very verstile bike with very little compromise on the road but really shines on mixed surface rides. http://www.flickr.com/photos/79695460@N00/6922766182/in/set-72157607471577085 http://www.flickr.com/photos/79695460@N00/7616541350/in/photostream
