Thanks everybody.  Comments above are correct, that these two bikes have 
identical Ritchey 172.5mm 94/58 bcd arms.  Both sets are set up compact 
double, one with  a 44/30 and the other with a 46/29.  Both have the top 
secret Q-reducing technique applied, a 102mm ISO taper BB, which lets the 
arms go on a little bit farther than the "correct" JIS taper.  

I am going to go ahead and put the White VBC crankset on the Black Mountain 
road bike.  

The Ritchey that comes off will then go on my Bombadil, back as a triple, 
with the stock 22/32/42.  Unless of course I try to do something different

pb, bless you for suggesting a new frame.  That makes the decisions that 
much more fun!
