Frank: The serial # will tell you the month (A = Jan and etc) and year of manufacture (95 or 96 in the #) The rest of the serial is which position in the production sequence that month it was and the initials of the builder.
I went the repaint route (at Airglow in GA) on mine and a 650B convert (takes 38 mm Pari-Motos no problem) and have been very happy with it. It's a very snappy ride and quick handling for a Riv. Comfort too with a slack seat tube and nice tube set. Bruce Hope someone gets it and likes it and you get the bike you prefer.
