My dog hasn't chewed any leather, but he will and does steal my cycling socks (I know, I know -- Shooz Rooz and all, but I not only use special cycling pedals and shoes, I use special cycling socks -- I just don't like non-retention pedaling) so that I have to keep them close up in my closet.
