I use my Betty for commuting also. The step-through really helps when I try to maneuver her around to hit crosswalk signals when needed (not all our lights are "smart." I notice people are nicer to me when I ride Betty and wear my Nutcase watermelon helmet. They're not as nice when I ride my red RB-1 and grey Giro helmet.
