Bike Friday is a good vote - I'd take a Tikit (14" commuter's Friday) if you must do multi-mode fun daily. BF's fold for the trip, but Tikits are meant to be folded daily.
In the interest of full disclosure, Have an Atlantis and a Pocket Llama from BF. I was jonesing for my bike while working in Iraq, and knew that I didn't have a shop nearby I trusted to break down my Atlantis for me.
