If the shim is a big deal, you can get at least get a really nice Thomson shim. That's what I did for $5. Acutually forgot all about it until I saw this posting. http://www.treefortbikes.com/product/333222337828/125/Thomson-Stem-Shim.html. comes with a cap too.
