JPP, that is really a function of where you live and work, and your local
bike theft stats. In the past 9 years I've left some nice bikes (e.g.,
Richard Sachs, Curt Goodrich, Rivendell Rambo, carbon fiber racing bike)
locked up all day outside my place of work as well as outside restaurants,
bars, markets, stores, etc., in Madison, WI, literally thousands of times
and have not had so much as a blinky light stolen. I'm moving to San
Francisco in a few months and will surely have to change my habits.
