I just threaded a nut on the long bolt and sawed off 3/4 of the length with a hacksaw. Cleaned up the edge with a file and removing the nut chased the threads. I used a ratchet to tighten the bolt on the bike. I also did away with the top plate since my Kogswell has a kickstand plate.
