I wrote down my loose plan for the Midwest Riv Rally. I'm not much for
micromanaging herds of cats or groups of cyclists. My general approach to
larger group rides is that it's an semi-cohesive association of
self-responsible individuals. If you have to come or go at a different time
or you can only eat certain types of food or can only stay at hotels that
take Diner's Club or whatever, that's cool, but please make the necessary
arrangements yourself. Also, be advised that a general fitness guideline is
the ability to ride 50-ish somewhat hilly miles in a day, on two
consecutive days. You don't have to be fast by any means, but you do have
to cover the distance without being miserable and/or dying. Misery and/or
death are the opposite of what we want.
