I got a pair of Half-Mitts for Christmas and they are swell. Rode for an hour this morning at about 26 degrees with them over a pair of army surplus double-layer wool mittens with leather palms. Hands were just fine. I would say better at that temperature than leather choppers with thick wool mitts, which can be a bit too warm. Have also used the half-mitts with lighter wool mittens in the 40 degree range and they were great. And you can just tuck 'em in a pocket so easily; no more space than a bandana. With the elastic band and toggle, they stay put on the mitten so you take the whole mitten/half-mitt unit on and off with ease. Very easy to pull out of them one-handed with teeth at a stoplight--however, not so easy to get the half-mitt back on over the wool mitt without using the other hand, which has its mitten removed.
Don't even get me started on the implications of riding in 40-degree weather here in Minneapolis on Christmas--it was over 50 on the 26th. Not a speck of snow on the ground and the Mississippi is completely ice-free in downtown St. Paul. The only good thing I can say is I get to ride more. But the half-mitts are great! liesl in the not-so-chilly twin cities -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
