They say that happiness is best when shared. Riding your bike with a group of friends pretty much sums this up pretty well. A group of friends and I have random rides sometimes to a event, or a new place to but every once in a while we have a Jersey Ride. Where we ride for the sake of just riding. During these rides we jazz ourselves up in jerseys and ride to our hearts content. The ride started off well with everyone, including myself being late at the start of the ride. It was the classic route we've done before. With the exception of my one friend Jess. Her first road bike, her first really group ride. But knowing her I knew she wouldn't have a problem. My little brother on the other hand came semi-unprepared. Being a jersey ride and him not really owning any jersey I let him borrow my Rapha Lightweight Jersey and helmet. Figuring the best thing I can do for my brother is to make sure that he was safe and stylish. The ride itself was like poetry in motion. Everyone looked strong and we kept it at a leisurely pace. Stopping for pictures and to help a cyclist with a broken spoke(thanks emergency kevar spokes). Had someone tell me that they liked my trainer bike(referring to my Bleriot.) I glanced down then replied, "this isn't my trainer, this is my everything bike!" Up until the last decent down Skyline. Near the end of skyline there's a sharp right turn where if you don't slow down early your hitting the double yellow. As I decent down I take the turn perfect just as a car is coming up the other direction. In my perpetual vision I see my brother taking the turn to fast crossing the double yellow into the upcoming car. Instead of riding right into the car he takes a hard left into the dirt and does a spectacular ninja roll into the dirt. The car driver gets out of his car and starts yelling at my little brother about cyclist riding crazy on skyline all the time. Lucky he rolled perfectly and he only had minor scratches. Even better my jersey that I let borrow came out of the spill unscathed. My helmet on the other hand came out cracked due to the fall. He finished the ride like a trooper with smiles on the way back home. We didn't even find out that the helmet broke until the end of the ride! If nobody got hurt it's always a great ride.
