I wonder that also.....but one mans clearance is different than anothers. Perhaps when using as a trail rider he wants a little more for stepping over the top tube when hauling stuff on the rear rack.... but yea. I figure if I can 'stand over' flat footed with my shoes on level ground that's good enough for me but I am primarily a pavement rider. I sure do love the horizontal double top tube look and wish the Hunk was so configured but in my size it doesn't have extra anyway so moot......
