Hi Jay, I switched to drops for the first time after a decade on North Road- ish bars, and I got all sorts of weird wrist/finger sensations. I was certain I'd switch to albatross, but I let it go for a few weeks and in the meantime, my riding posture adapted. Now it feels better than the other bars ever did. Not to say that you wouldn't (also) benefit from a shorter stem, but you might try giving it a month until your neck and back adjust, just to be sure.
Good luck!
