On the basis of others' comments I bought my first Bicycling in years. It is certainly better now than at its nadir under a certain "Zap" E's editorship and I was pleased by the positive outlook on the Roadeo. Overall, I think that there has clearly been at least the beginning of a reaction against "lighter, faster, vertically stiff and laterally compliant" and that this is now being reflected even in the mainstream.
I was struck by the price of the Roadeo reviewed: $5,200! Not too much for a top o' the line, IMO, but certainly inching up to within spitting distance of a good custom frameset and build. Also: I enjoyed the feature on cargo bikes. But I am curious why no one has made much of the tricycle as a cargo vehicle. I've very little experience with one, but that which I do have certainly inclines me to think of a trike as an ideal cargo vehicle: with my new Worksman I can easily carry a 20 lb bag of dogfood (plus 20 additional lbs of other stuff) without any hassle about disposing the load so that the bike doesn't tip over when parked or veer into traffic when under way. *I* think that Riv ought to abandon the tandem project and produce a top o' the line trike, after the British Racing model, but include room for a big, 4-grocery-sack basket in the rear. -- Patrick Moore Albuquerque, NM For professional resumes, contact Patrick Moore, ACRW http://resumespecialties.com/index.html -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
