Spent the weekend riding with a bunch of folks from the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota) over to Dave's Brewfarm in Wilson, Wisconsin for overnight camping/party. Besides my Sam Hillborne, list member Shaun M. was on his 68cm Atlantis. All in all there were about 20 bikes. Everything from go-fast bikes to Jim Thill's frankentandem to a really fast rider on a Salsa Mukluk(!) Round trip was between 110 and 120 miles. Actual speed was quite modest for some of us. Both to savor the scenery and because it was hot and (extremely) humid both days.
Most riders took advantage of friends driving over or the official sag wagon to haul camping gear and extra food. To say we ate like royalty at the destination is an understatement. Oh, and yes, there was quite a bit of excellent beer to be had as well. At least for those of us who do not mind imbibing in that liquid. One of the highlights for myself was sitting around with some other folks and playing music. Didn't bring an instrument along, but one of the other musicians let me use both her guitar and ukulele. We were able to jam on a couple of tunes. Believe me, playing a solo on an unfamiliar tune on a ukulele is not easy. Great fun, though. And she did a nice job of backup on banjo while I flatpicked a couple of tunes that were not familiar to her. Also want to give a public thanks to Grant. In an e-mail exchange a little while ago he recommended the Eureka Spitfire tent. This was my first experience with it and it's a winner. Lots of room to hold me and gear and still room to stretch out or sit up. Easiest clothing change in a tent I've had in ages. And the tent withstood the storm that developed that evening. Again, great tent. Some photos here - http://tinyurl.com/3hjnlzx Eric Platt St. Paul, MN -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
