Hey Jim, I'm actually working today and Thur so I'm not around to ride or meet up. Fri morning I have friends in town so I'm not available then either. Bummer. Riding out by the Gorge would definitely be recommended. Troutdale to Multnomah Falls is a really nice ride even with all the tourist traffic given the nice weather. Better yet, ride Larch Mtn, that's a great ride. If you do Larch Mtn be sure to go to the observation platform. Just drag your bike the 1/2 mile out there. Part of it is rideable and you can just leave your bike on the side of the trail while you take the steps to the observation. While the 14 mile climb up Larch Mtn may seem daunting it's never really steep and the descent is fun.
As for bike shops... River City Cycles is worth checking out but I don't know that you'd see anything there you wouldn't see elsewhere. Maybe check out Clever Cycles, that's a unique shop with a friend crew. Sorry I won't be able to meet up in person. Maybe next time. I hope you have a great time here. Be sure to check out Powell's if you're at all a book fan. The Burnside location is great. There's also a fancy new bike shop right up the street from there although I can't recall its name. --mike On Jul 27, 10:11 am, James Warren <jimcwar...@earthlink.net> wrote: > I'm visiting Portland and will arrive Wed mid-afternoon, staying till Friday > morning.
