I made the trip out to Walnut Creek this week (Thursday) while in town for a conference. For those of you who haven't been, it's not to be missed.
I rode a 54 Hunqa with moustaches, a 58 diaga Hunqa with drops, the new SimpleOne (58) with Albas, and the 60 DiagaBomba with Bullmoose bars. Grant set them all up after I indicated I'd love to take a Hunqa and SimpleOne for a ride. Talk about testing out all the combos! All were beautiful, and I found that the diaga tubes neither added much for weight, and definitely met the intended purpose of triangulating the bigger frames. I really liked the Hunqas, and for a pure fun MTB, I'm planning to get a 54 later this summer. It was a gas! If I fall into more dollars (i.e. convince my wife) I'll easily go for a 56 Bomba diagonal. It is a beautiful bike, and rides like a champ. Also - surprisingly light. The single fell down my list a bit - I mostly commute, and until I start having more time for weekend trail rides, it's just not going to get as much time out of my garage. On the people side of things, I talked with Grant, Jay, Miesha, Dave, and Mark. They all were very helpful and just great folks to deal with my silly questions. Grant even entertained my non-bike-guy associate who I dragged along. He talked kids and camping while I was out riding, and before we left, he tossed him a couple videos on child rearing. What a cool business Grant has built! I don't think I've seen anything close to our Riv community - all brought together by the design, opinion, writings, and good nature of one guy with some great employees! Inspiration for us all.
