E.B., thanks for the compliment!  I broke a few Riv-rules with the
drivetrain, but I got used to riding a 50/34 crank set with a 10 speed
12-27 cassette on a MCRB over the past few years, and the range works
for me.  I missed downtube shifters though.  And steel.  I've got
nothing against square taper bottom brackets, but the ability to swap
parts b/w bikes was a priority for me.  I definitely get a tire shadow
with that fork-mounted light setup, but it's not that bad.  More than
anything I want to be seen by cars, which is why I mounted it on the
left.  This may start a flame war, but I don't think it's super
necessary to face the shell.
