Jason: I did the same thing as you. IIRC you can put the "tab stop" (?) on the pod side, away from the lever, in a couple of the 4 possible positions. I happened to have a pair of the ones without the tab that I used, but as said above, there are about a billion of those washers out there.
FWIW, I installed the pods with the D-rings on the inside per instruction. Next time I re-cable I'm changing them to the outside so I can more easily cinch down the D-rings on the fly. I still haven't discovered the magic combination of washers to prevent the D-rings from gradually loosening up.
