The better belted tires do resist them somewhat; my Big Apples for
example wil suffer a penetration rate just a fraction of my thin road
tires where one of, say, every five get through.

I've ridden into a bad patch offroad with the Big Apples and flicked
off literally a hundred or more from both tires -- spin the wheel, use
your foot as a scraper, see them fly off like popcorn.

Just fixed another one ....
