Topic: How's the wind in your region?
Todays club ride started in Santa Ysabel, about 50 miles NE of San Diego, went down the Banner Grade to Borrego Springs, then up Montezuma Grade, a 12 mile climb. We got cross and headwind gusts up to 40 mph (according to the NWS). It was miserable. When we got to the top, we still had 25 miles of mostly crosswinds to contend with.
RE cycling cap: Before Montezuma Grade, I hooked my sunglasses on the front of my helmet and turned my cap around so the brim was in front. My rarionale was that this would shade my face without having sweat dripping down my glasses. What happened because of the wind though was that the brim of the cap blew down and covered my eyes.
