On a related topic, I just installed silver bar end shifters on my Blériot
(pix to come). My installation kit came with four square hole washers: two
with tabs and two without. The instructions only showed the tabbed washers
and indicated that the tabs should point into the pods. However they do not
reach into the pods unless the untabbed square washers are put onto the
bosses first. If I were to do that, then the cable line would not be
aligned with the cable hole in the pod. Since having a properly tensioned
cable is most important, I simply left the tabbed square washers out.
Everything seems fine and shifting is smooth. But I wonder what those
tabbed square hole washers were for. Again, the untabbed washers were not
in the instructions, while the square washers in the youtube installation
video don't have tabs. Any thoughts?
thanks,
bdl
